Education for Librarianship

Volume 45 NO. 3 2012

The media environment is changing rapidly. Knowledge we learned yesterday tends to be outdated today and obsolete tomorrow. Information is abundant and needs to be organized in order to be retrieved… by someone… In this issue we look into both basic education and further training for library staff. Some of the contributors are looking back in the history of library education, and some are trying to see the future. Subjects as leadership and management are touched upon, and distance education and collaboration seem to be a solution to keep up pace with competence. And – by the way – why is the majority of library staff female? Is the librarian profession plagued by neophobia (fear of change). Read and find out!
