A library is not just a building, a place to go, or a web site to visit online. A library is its collections and its staff. Without librarians, the library would just be an entrance to an enormous source of information and knowledge, sort of like Google. But librarians are not only there to help you find exactly what you are looking for, they also work with the library’s collections that continuously need to be updated, preserved, and sometimes weeded, because a library is no better nor more interesting than the collections it holds.
This issue of SLQ is about collections and what is needed to keep them relevant – collection development policies. I hope you will find it interesting and informative. The next issue of SLQ, NO 1-2 2016, will reach you by mid-June next year.
